Gardner Mountain Neighborhood Profile

January 19, 2012

Gardner Mountain is a neighborhood that combines “in town” amenities with a mountain living atmosphere.  Located on a small hillside, it’s less than half a mile from the Y intersection (Highway 50 & Lake Tahoe Blvd), and about 2.2 miles from Camp Richardson on the edge of town.  Within walking and driving distance are lots of restaurants, shops, and other amenities.

Gardner Mountain is surrounded by lots of great forest views and  great hiking, biking and cross-country ski trails. Across Highway 89 the bike trail starts which is very popular in the summer time for riding bikes down to the beach or walking to the beach.  Some trails even lead to Fallen Leaf Lake which is a great place for boating/swimming/hiking/biking/fishing.  There’s even a general store and deli located at the edge of the lake.  Fallen Leaf Lake is also accessible by road and is about 5.9 miles away.  As mentioned above, Gardner Mountain is also close to Camp Richardson Resort which has camping, an ice cream parlor, general store, hotel, bike rentals, access to many trails, and one of Tahoe’s best restaurants located right on the lake, The Beacon Bar & Grill.  In the winter Camp Richardson also offers snow-shoeing and cross country skiing. If you get a home on the edge of the neighborhood you can literally go out your back door on x-country skis in the winter and access miles of forest to enjoy.

Gardner Mountain is filled with a mixture of contemporary homes, older cabins, and some lots still left for you to build your own home.  For in-town neighborhood, the lots are generally larger here than a lot of other neighborhoods in town. This is a great neighborhood for anyone!

Meyers Neighborhood Profile (South Lake Tahoe, CA)

January 9, 2012

Out in the county, this neighborhood is the first section you’ll discover after coming over Highway 50 from Sacramento.  A great community surrounded by beautiful mountain and forest views, Meyers has so many great things to offer!  This neighborhood is like it’s own little town – not only is  Lira’s Supermarket close by for all your grocery needs but there are some great little restaurants within walking/biking/driving distance.  Meyers also has a post office, gas stations, and Meeks Hardware.  There are also two golf courses surrounding this neighborhood as well as tons of different hiking/biking trails through the forest and meadows.  And in the winter the golf courses provide snowmobiling fun and the trails provide excellent cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

At the end of E San Bernardino Avenue you can find Tahoe Paradise Park.  The upper section of the park includes Lake Baron (a great spot for fishing, or a beautiful backdrop for pictures), tennis courts, and a clubhouse which you can reserve for private parties and events (Tahoe Paradise Resort Improvement District 530-577-9881).  The lower section of the park has a playground, picnic area, basketball courts, ball fields, and backs up to the river.  More trails can be found here.  Also off of San Bernardino Avenue  is the Lake Tahoe Environmental Science Magnet School.

Along with all the great amenities mentioned above, Meyers is about 15-20 minutes from Sierra At Tahoe Ski Resort, 5-10 minutes from the “Y area” of town, and 18-20 minutes from Stateline.  Meyers is also close to Highway 89 which leads to Hope Valley (beautiful views) and Kirkwood Ski Resort.  Meyers neighborhood is a great place for any homeowner.  There are prime older homes, newer construction homes and even some lots for you to build your dream home on.  Whatever your needs may be, Meyers has plenty to offer.
